Liptov - tourist attractions

The Museum of the Battle of Vavrišov was opened in October 2010. It was built to commemorate the battle that took place on the territory of the village in August 1709 as part of the Estates Rebellions of Francis II. Rákociho.  The museum building is complemented by a lookout tower with a unique view of the Bela River, the ridge of the Western Tatras and the majestic Krivan. The building represents the traditional folk architecture of Liptov with the use of natural materials - wood and stone. The Slovakia Miniature Park can be found in Liptovský Ján. In this exhibition area you can see 18 models of Slovak cultural monuments and we are constantly working on the gradual expansion of the exhibition. The models are in the scale of 1:25 with a strong emphasis on detail. The first of these miniatures was created in 2005 and it was a model of the Urban Tower in Košice. The Považská Forest Railway was established in 1912 for the transport of harvested timber, the transport of which was mostly carried out at that time by rafting on the river. However, navigating was not sufficient, especially as demand for long logs increased.  The Hungarian State Forestry Office in Liptovský Hrádok therefore proceeded to build a forest narrow-gauge railway. TARZANIA JASNA is located in the beautiful Liptov countryside in the recreational center Jasná in Demänovská Valley. It is built on trees and consists of two trails built with 34 platforms and 95 obstacles at a height of approximately 4 to 7 m above the ground. The blue (shorter and lighter) route measures 281 m. The red (longer) route is 396 m long. When overcoming obstacles, each individual is secured with climbing equipment. At the mouth of the Kalamenská valley, visitors can bathe in a pond, into which warm thermal water from a thermal well springs, and thus enjoy the effects of healing water. Located between Liptovský Mikuláš and Poprad. The cave represents an important palaeontological finding place of cave bear bones (Ursus spelaeus), which was bigger and heavier than present brown bear. The sculpture in life size is newly installed in the cave. It is located in the Važecký Karst on the contact of the Kozie chrbty with the Liptovská Basin, on the western edge of Važec village.
