HAVRÁNOK Liptovská Sielnica

HAVRÁNOK

Liptovská Sielnica (area: Choč Mountains, region: Liptov)

Havránok is an important archaeological site in northern Slovakia. It is located on a hill above the Liptovská Mara water reservoir around 2 km from the village of Bobrovník, about halfway between Ružomberok and Liptovský Mikuláš in the Liptov region. The archaeologists unearthed a prehistoric Celtic hill fort and a medieval wooden castle in the 1960s, during the construction of the Liptovská Mara dam. Both objects have been partially reconstructed. During the Iron Age and the Roman Era, the shrine of Havránok was an important religious center of the Celts living in Slovakia.

The models are in the scale of 1:25 with a strong emphasis on detail. The first of these miniatures was created in 2005 and it was a model of the Urban Tower in Košice. There are more than 30,000 historical monuments in Slovakia, but Park MINI SLOVAKIA is trying to revive the public's interest in this wealth. The exhibition area is managed by the Civic Association MINI SLOVAKIA...

Track gauge was 760 mm. Operation on the railway started in 1921 (some sources mention the year 1916), transport was provided by steam locomotives. The main line led from Liptovský Hrádok through Liptovská Teplička...
