The highest mountain chalet in the High Tatras open all year round is located in Mala Studena Valley. Teryho chalet can be found at the Five Spis Tarns at an altitude of 2,015 meters. Easiest access to it is from Stary Smokovec. The tourist path runs through the Hrebienok resort, at a huge waterfall and Zamkovskeho chalet. You can reach it also from the Tatranska Javorina through Javorova Valley and Sedielko, but this trail is harder.

The cottage is suitable for hikers, climbers and alpinists overnight. Accommodation capacity consists of two six-bed rooms and one 12-bedded room. Each bed has two blankets and a pillow. Bathroom is in the hallway in the building cottages. In the washroom there is only cold water available. You can book breakfast or half board too.

Téryho chatu poznám už desiatky rokov. Naposledy som tu bola koncom októbra a všetko bolo v poriadku, tak ako posledných 30 rokov – chutné jedlo a príjemná atmosféra. Dnes sme si však spravili zimnú túru a odchádzali sme nesmierne sklamaní.

Ponuka jedál je výrazne zúžená, pričom ceny vzrástli. To, že sa v dnešnej dobe ceny upravujú, je úplne v poriadku a pochopiteľné. Čo je však absolútne neprijateľné, je kvalita jedla. Objednali sme si tri „cesnačky“, ktoré mali s touto polievkou spoločný len názov. Bola to len múčna hustá voda s príchuťou bujónu – pri najlepšej vôli sa to nedalo jesť.

Okrem toho pribudli na stoloch nálepky so zákazom konzumácie vlastného jedla, čo považujem za ďalšiu smutnú novinku.

Moje zhodnotenie: Nabudúce si tu hore dáme už len niečo na pitie a jedlo si, tak ako pred 30 rokmi, prinesieme vlastné v batohu a zjeme ho vonku pred chatou. Pre Vysoké Tatry je to veľká strata a úprimne dúfam, že sa tento prístup opäť zmení k lepšiemu.

Ubytovanie je primerané na vysokohorskú chatu, izby boli čisté, nemáme sa na čo sťažovať, skvelá poloha chaty umožňuje zdolávať okolité štíty. Ale príjemná je už aj samotná túra na chatu.
