Starý Smokovec is the oldest Tatra settlement, the centre of the Tatra mountain rescue is here. The first accommodation facility was built right in Starý Smokovec. It is located on the foothill of the Slavkovský peak, on the top of which you can get following the tourist path. Starý Smokovec offers a lot of accommodation possibilities but also restaurants, where you can taste various specialties. The visitors can get with a funicular train to Hrebienok, which is the starting point for summer trips to valleys to Studenovodské waterfalls, to Tatranská Lomnica or visit Bílik´s cottage in which the guests will find also accommodation.
