High Tatras, tourist attractions

The Považská Forest Railway was established in 1912 for the transport of harvested timber, the transport of which was mostly carried out at that time by rafting on the river. However, navigating was not sufficient, especially as demand for long logs increased.  The Hungarian State Forestry Office in Liptovský Hrádok therefore proceeded to build a forest narrow-gauge railway. The new funicular from Starý Smokovec to Hrebienok facilitates transport for tourists since December 2007 when its operation was launched and replaced an older lift. Approximately five to ten minutes for you to lift exports to Hrebienok altitude over 1200 m above sea level. The funicular runs every half hour.

Skalnaté pleso is located in the Tatras below the southern slopes of Lomnický štít in Skalnata dolina. You will find the lake at an altitude of 1754 m above sea level. m. Štrbské pleso is a picturesque mountain lake of glacial origin and a top tourist destination in the High Tatras, Slovakia. It is the second largest glacial lake on the Slovak side of the High Tatras, after Hincovo pleso.

Veľké Hincovo pleso is the largest and deepest lake in Slovakia. It has an area of 20.08 ha, a depth of 53.7 m, its length is 740 m and a width of 370 m. Squirrel Rope Park is located at Strbske Pleso in the High Tatras. This rope park consists of two types of tracks: The big track consists of 22 obstacles placed on trees in the height of approx. 5 meters and it is 280 meters long.
