Our oldest zoo garden is situated next to dominant Bojnice Castle in beautiful nature. It covers area of 42 hectares and it was established in 1955. Hundreds of thousand guests visit it and look over its expositions every year. On the grounds of our zoo garden you can see about 270 species of bred animals and over 2 600 individuals from the smallest fish in aquarium up to the largest African elephants in their pavilion. Many wild freely living species of birds and small mammals are very interesting. The zoo garden opens daily all over the year.
From the beginning up to the present time many zoological species have been successfully bred here. We only mention some of them: Yellow anaconda (Eunectes notaeus), Ball python (Python regius), Emu (Dromiceius novaehollandiae), Common Rhea (Rhea americana), White-naped Crane (Grus vipio), 3 breeds of crowned pigeons (Goura sp.), White Stork (Ciconia ciconia), Chilean Flamingo (Phoenicopterus chilensis), White Eared-pheasant (Crossoptilon crossoptilon), Papuan Hornbill (Rhyticeros plicatus), Northern Lynx (Lynx lynx), Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae), Persian Leopard (Panthera pardus saxicolor), Kulan (Equus hemionus kulan), Kiang (Equus kiang), Przewalski' Horse (Equus przewalskii), Hartmann's Mountain Zebra (Equus zebra hartmannae), Bongo (Boocercus euryceros), Greater Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros), African Elephant (Loxodonta africana), Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus), Saiga (Saiga tatarica), Wisent (Bison bonasus), Siberian Ibex (Capra ibex sibirica), Caucasian Tur (Capra caucasica) and many others.
