Zvolen, tourist attractions

Ski resort Kráľová is located near the town of Zvolen (10 km) in the mountains Javorie below the hill Lomná (908 m). For skiers there are 5 ski lifts with a capacity of about 3000 persons / hour and 5 ski runs in the length of 3400 metres. Lovers of cross-country skiing can use tracks of 10 km. The ski area offers ski service, children ski school, ski equipment rental, as well as popular night skiing. There is a shuttle service from Zvolen.

Zvolen Castle (Slovak: Zvolenský zámok) is a medieval castle located on a hill near the center of Zvolen, in central Slovakia. The original seat of the region was above the confluence of Slatina and Hron rivers on a steep cliff in a castle from the 12th century, known today as Pustý hrad (meaning "Deserted castle"). Its difficult access had consequence in relocation of the seat to the new-built Zvolen castle, which was ordered by Louis I the Great as a hunting residence of Hungarian kings.
