In winter you can ski here in one of the largest ski resorts in Slovakia, in the summer in addition to hiking you have an opportunity to experience adrenaline on a toboggan run. Another important centre of the High Tatras Mountains with lots of guesthouses and hotels and winter sports or summer activities possibilities is the Stary Smokovec, which is the seat of mountain rescue, too. It forms one settlement unit together with Novy Smokovec known also for spa, and downward the valley there can be found Dolny Smokovec, where you will have no problem with a finding of an accommodation according to your wishes is no problem. Perhaps the greater offer of a private accommodation is at disposal in the village of Stara Lesna, near the Tatranska Lomnica, and where you can stay also in luxury wellness hotel as well as in a elegant guesthouse. Probably nowhere in this mountains are not so much pensions and private accommodations, as in Ždiar, but these you will not miss luxury chalets or cottages with tourist standard as well. If we move to the west, there, situated near the slopes of Krivan Peak, can be reached the village of Podbanské - a very popular place for a holiday in the Tatra Mountains.
