Oščadnica Manor

The mansion in Oščadnica was built in the years 1910 - 1913 by the Prussian Junker Count Ballestrem. At that time, the mansion served as a hunting lodge, and the count established a forest park with an area of over 3 hectares. The manor building is two-track and two-story, symmetrical to the central axis, oriented longitudinally in the east-west direction.

Over time, the manor house changed owners and other buildings were gradually added to it. In 1976, the mansion became the property of the Kysucka Gallery in Čadec and is currently the seat of the Kysucka Gallery in Oščadnica. The premises of the forest park are used for various cultural and social events.

The environment of the Oščadnice forest park with the mansion is a space where history meets contemporary art. The manor building, a national cultural monument, is a unique building of this type of architecture in the environment of Horné Kysúce.
The first exhibitions were made available on 27 November 1981 in the manor house, which is registered as a national cultural monument in the PLA with the adjacent forest park.

The Kysuck Gallery in Oščadnica was established in 1981 on the initiative of Kysúc natives and friends – JUDr. Anton Blaha and twelve visual artists. Its mission is to collect, protect, scientifically and professionally evaluate and professionally process works of all disciplines of fine art of domestic and foreign origin from individual historical periods and the present, taking into account the territorial scope of the Kysuce region. Make them available to the public and use them in the public interest.

Žilina self-governing region and the Kysucká gallery completely modernized the gallery buildings in 2020-2022 as part of a cross-border project funded by European financial resources.
