BUDMERICE Mansion

The Budmerice manor house is located in the Trnava Uplands near the edge of the Little Carpathians, in a park in front of the village of Budmerice, which in the past was a serf village of Červený Kameň Castle. It is 10 km from Modra and 15 km from Trnava.

The manor is surrounded by an English park. It was built in 1889 in the pseudo-Gothic style by the Pálffy family as a hunting lodge. The Renaissance castles on the Loire were probably the inspiration for the construction. The architecture of the manor is a set of elements of several historical periods. The main façade with a receding risalit ends above the portal with the coat of arms of a high tower. In 1945, after the emigration of the last Countess of Budweis, Pavel was confiscated by the Czech-Slovak government.

The manor's opening hours are from 10:00 until 15:00 (inclusive) every hour on weekends. Admission to the tour of the manor is limited in capacity (capacity of one group of about 25 people).

During the tour you can see several rooms furnished with objects that were previously part of the House of Slovak Writers, as well as collection objects from the SNM-Museum Červený Kameň. These are exhibits that come from transports of the National Cultural Commission from abandoned and nationalized aristocratic settlements after the Second World War - none of the objects belong to the original equipment of the manor house before 1945.
