Csáky's Castle

Csáky's castle in Prievoz (older Csákys manor house) is a manor house that Count Eugen Csáky had built as his summer residence near Bratislava, probably in 1902. The building is from a period of ripening romanticism, but shows elements of eclecticism and has an irregular disposition.

In 1916, Pavol Žolnajov sold out individual parts of the french garden originally belonging to the manor house. In 1933 the building together with a small part of the park were bought by the nuns of the Congregation of the Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi, they established a monastery in the mansion and set up a hospital in the building originally used as a stables.

The manor house was nationalized in 1954 and in 1956 rebuilt into a geriatric sanatorium. In 1989, the state returned the building to the church and the manor house was declared a national cultural monument. Order nurses in cooperation with the Regional Monuments Board in Bratislava and Ing. arch. Eduard Šutek carried out reconstruction in 2003-2006. In 2006 he won the Cultural Monument of the Year competition.
