Strazov Mountains

Strazov Mountains lies on a dividing line between western and central Slovakia. The area is bordered by the cities: Dubnica nad Vahom, Trencin, Bojnice and Ilava. Territory of landscape park includes the area of Strazov Mountains in the southern part extending into districts of Prievidza, Povazska Bystrica, Ilava and Puchov, and Sulov Mountains in the north with the districts of Zilina and Bytca. In the south the Hills of Strazov meet with the mountain range of Povazsky Inovec, Little Fatra in the east and Sulov Hills in the north.

Visitors are attracted by its bizarre rocks, typical deep forests, basins and valleys. Strazov (1,213 m) and Vapec are the highest hills. In area of the village Mojtin there can be seen a plateau with an occurrence of karsts. The Strazov Mountains area is also rich in thermal waters, as evidenced by such spa towns as Bojnice - popular with tourists thanks to the castle and zoo, Trencianske Teplice with a health spa in beautiful surroundings of the western part of the mountain range, and near the northern outskirt of the mountains the town of Rajecke Teplice can be found. Popular areas especially in winter include the village of Cicmany with typical folk architecture and wooden houses.

Strazov Mountains are definitely a good place for regeneration and the place where you can enjoy the natural beauty of Slovakia. Time can be spent by wandering in the mountains, cycling, climbing and winter skiing. Here you will find recreational resorts for summer camps for children and ski courses, camping and various chalets.
