Spis Magura

Spis Magura flysch mountain range is situated in the northwest of eastern Slovakia. On its southwest side it is adjacent to Belian Tatras where a popular village Zdiar can be found between these mountains. In the south it neighbours with Under-Tatras Basin and to the southeast from it the Levoca Mountains can be seen. To the north the mountain range stretches even to Poland, where the valley of the River Dunajec forms the border with the Pieniny National Park. The highest peak Repisko with a height of 1,259 meters above sea level is located in the southwest of Spis Magura.

Former woodcutting and pastoral region is nowadays offering a prospective tourist area of ​​intact nature. More than 30 km long ridge of the Spis Magura has a height of about 1000 meters above sea level. The eastern part of the mountains, where attractive spa town Vysne Ruzbachy lies, is characterized by its mineral springs. In Vysne Ruzbachy you can relax in the spa, which are sought after by visitors from afar. You can have fun here also in winter on the ski slopes.

If we have mentioned a skiing and winter sports, Bachledova Valley situated between the villages Jezersko and Zdiar is a very popular ski resort too. The second-mentioned village has several smaller ski resorts and numerous opportunities for accommodation.

If you've had enough of hiking and admiring the natural beauty of Spis Magura, you can also visit the nearby towns abounding with historical monuments. In Kezmarok, located to the south, you have an opportunity to visit the town castle and other monuments. The town of Stara Lubovna lying near the eastern edge of the mountain range welcomes its visitors with exposures in Lubovna Castle and outdoor museum.
