Skalica

The town of Skalica belonging to the region of Zahorie is located in Western Slovakia, near the border with the Czech Republic. Historical Slovak city that boasted with an attribute of royal city has a long and rich history. It belongs to the oldest towns in Slovakia and so there is no shortage of sights of the city.

Surrounding region is a famous wine site and the viticulture in Skalica has a tradition for several centuries. Famous by particular red wine, the town is among the cities with the largest number of vineyards.

Town surroundings are also interesting from the point of view of hiking, especially by the easy trails. If we would like to go somewhere on foot or by bike, we should not miss the historical monuments of the city. You can go for walks in Little Carpathians nature, or to a nearby mountainous terrain of the White Carpathian Mountains.

The countryside near ponds also deserves a visit, or we could go to trip to the Morava River, of which the bank is prepared for tourists. You can spend the moments of rest and relaxation on the Bata Canal, where you can go on sightseeing tour on boat. Downstream you can go on bike even to Bratislava to where the Zahorska cycle route will lead you. Popular among vacationers and situated by forests of mountain surroundings of the White Carpathians, the resort area Zlatnicka Valley with accommodation capacities is about five kilometres away from the town of Skalica.

The visitors of the town includes also golf enthusiasts, for whom there is available a golf course located next to city. Accommodations in Skalica provide hotels, some with spa services, or smaller pensions.
