The tourist region of Novohrad lies on the south of Middle Slovakia and its most important centre is the district town of Lucenec. The northern part of the region is mountainous and the hills, of which Krupina Upland occupies the largest area, give it its character. South of the Novohrad is flat although. Mainly historical monuments are treasure of the region. If you visit Novohrad, surely you should not miss a castle or ruins sightseeing. Somoska Castle and Filakovo Castle can be found in the area and in the vicinity of the town Filakovo, Halic Castle is situated near Lucenec, and Modry Kamen Castle with a permanent exhibition is located close to the district town of Velky Krtis.

Partially belonging in the region of Novohrad, the attractive spa town Dudince is located in the western part, to which the Danubian Lowland on the southwest and the southern foot hills of Stiavnica Mountains on the north extend. The city is part of the region of Hont. Spa Dudince can be visited by those who suffer from diseases of the cardiovascular system and the musculoskeletal system, and it is a nice place to relax for everyone who wants to spend a weekend of relaxation. When we mentioned thermal hot springs, we can not forget the village of Dolna Strehova with its year-round thermal swimming pool and thermal water with beneficial effects on musculoskeletal system. You can find it 13 km east of Velky Krtis towards Lucenec, 7 km from the border with Hungary.

You can enjoy the summer holiday on the bank of the water reservoir Ruzina near the village of Divin. There can be found accommodation right by the water, and there is annually held Ruzina Fest music festival. Standing above the village, the ruins of Divin Castle can be visited during the hiking.
