Low Tatras
Low Tatras is the second highest mountain range in Slovakia and belongs among the most visited mountain tourist sites. It is located in the centre of Slovakia and its highest peak reaches the height of 2,000 meters above sea level. The most famous of them are Dumbier (Ginger), Chopok and Kralova hola, from which there is a beautiful view of the surrounding valleys.
The largest and most visited tourist centres with a wide range of accommodation can be found in the central part of the Low Tatras, in the area of the main ridge at the highest mountains - Chopok and Dumbier. Situated on the slope of the Chopok, the resort Jasna in Demanovska valley offers wide opportunities of activities and attractions during the summer as well as winter. One of the largest ski resorts in Slovakia with lots of ski terrain awaits skiers and winter sports enthusiasts there. In summer, the area is rich in hiking trails attracting countless amounts of tourists to its natural nooks and beauty. The ridge of the Low Tatras with a length of 90 km is very popular. There are also prepared sporting attractions for summer visitors. Here you can try bobsleighing, archery, rock climbing, or you can visit caves or take a lift to the top of Chopok. Leisure time can be spent in swimming pools and relaxing spa of the hotels with a wide range of additional services.
Belonging among the most beautiful valleys of the Low Tatras, Janska valley can be found near the village of Liptovsky Jan. Known recreational resort hide beautiful natural places and is an ideal place to relax throughout the year. There you can find many hotels, guesthouses, cottages surrounded by mountains, but there is also a thermal spa and ski resorts. Tale recreation center located on the south side of the ridge is also known ski resort and in addition there is a popular golf course. Other resorts of the Low Tatras include Srdiecko, Kosodrevina, Myto pod Dumbierom village, heading north east, there is Certovica, then picturesque village Vysna Boca. We can not forget the western part of the Low Tatras, where are Donovaly - a starting point for summer hiking in nature and a famous ski resort. Let us name even the places providing opportunities for swimming, where we must not omit Tatralandia in Liptovsky Mikulas and thermal waters Gino Paradise in Besenova.
