Liptovský Hrádok, zOO & Botanical Gardens

Hrádok Arboretum is located in the cadastral area of Liptovský Hrádok at an altitude of 650 m directly in the northern part of the city surrounded by housing estates. Despite its small size, the Hrádek Arboretum is currently unique in Europe. It is the highest situated arboretum in Central Europe and contains the fourth largest dendrological collections in Slovakia. The arboretum contains unique taxa from our and world dendroflora, which are listed in the Red Books of several states, and which are on the northern edge of their natural range within Europe.

In addition to the outdoor Babyland playground, part of the Vila Betula Resort is an animal farm, where children can meet horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, llamas, ostriches - emus, turkeys, geese, ducks or even chickens. In addition to thousands of farm animals, children will also see pigeons, bunnies, peacocks and pheasants in aviaries. There are also cats and dogs here. Botanical garden is situated on the northern-eastern boundary of Tatranská Lomnica in High Tatras, next to the Hotel Sorea Titris. It is located on the territory of 3,2 ha. The visitor can see here 270 types of Tatra plants growing on various biotopes, some of them are possible to be purchased in form of seedlings or seeds.
