If you are looking for a place for recreation, or vacation in the mountains near Banska Bystrica, you can go to the west of it, where Kremnica hills are lying. The mountains hide several popular tourist resorts where you can stay and enjoy moments of relaxation during your vacation. Despite the fact that Kremnica Mountains are not a large mountain range in respect of its area, there can be found almost dozen ski resorts on the slopes of the hills, where the facilities providing accommodation in a mountain area are concentrated. If we set out from Banska Bystrica, the closest resort Tajov will welcome us with cottages, hotels and pensions. Another recreation and skiing resort can be found in Kraliky, and there is a small ski area also in Kordíky.

If we move from the eastern part of Kremnica Mountains further, we can find the historic town of Kremnica right in the middle of the mountains. The town is located west of the main ridge and offering its visitors not only beautiful mountain surrounding environment, but also historic monuments and unmissable Gothic building. The surrounding countryside is ideal for hiking and cycling through the maze of paths, which is Kremnica linked with surrounding municipalities, but you can get along the trials on the other side of the mountains. It is not only monuments, historic character of the town and nature, which is interesting for visitors, but Kremnica in its vicinity offers also opportunities for winter sports in several ski resorts. The closest ski slopes are in Krahule about 7 km from the town on the western slopes of Kremnica Mountains, where you will also find accommodation if you want to spend your vacation here. A little more to the east, about 10 km from the town, there is a popular ski area in the resort Skalka pri Kremnici where some hotels and hostels offer their services, so you can spend your vacation next to ski slopes there. The tourist resort Remata suitable for recreation throughout the year is situated on the very western edge of the hills.
