Michael's Gate in Bratislava

Michael's Gate is the only preserved gate of the original four in the Bratislava city fortification, today a monument in the Old Town. The tower was built at the end of the 14th century. It was named after the Church of Sts. Michael and according to him named suburbs, from which the Michael Gate entered the city. The towers have been built several times throughout history. The upper octagonal part of the tower was built in 1511-1517. It got its present Baroque appearance during the reconstruction in 1753-1758 together with the statue of St. Michael. The Bratislava City Museum set up an exhibition of historical weapons. The newer attractions of the tower include a laser beam, transmitted from the southern window, which indicates the route of the original Corsica.

The Museum of Weapons - Michalska Tower

The museum is dedicated to the history of the fortifications of the city, exposed to cold weapons, military and tournament equipment. From the top floor there is the entrance to the tower walkway, where you can see the historical part of Bratislava and its surroundings.
