Danubeland

Danubeland (Podunajsko) is a tourist region extending in south-western Slovakia along the river Danube. The region comprises the districts Dunajska Streda, Komarno, southern part of Nove Zamky and part of the Senec district. Southern boundary is formed by the Danube River, which is actually the southern border of Slovakia and Hungary, and in the north, the region is bordered mostly by Little Danube and by the northern boundary of the district Komarno. Danube region is part of the Danubian Lowland and most of its territory is occupied by the Rye Island.

In terms of tourism, the region is a summer destination and the main activities include water sports, whether on the oxbow lakes of the Danube, or in pools of thermal baths. The most popular thermal resorts include Thermal Corvinius located in the town of Velky Meder with a wide range of accommodation for visitors from all over Slovakia, as well as from abroad, mostly from the Czech Republic. Another popular place for swimming, the Dunajska Streda town offers its Thermal Park. In summer also equally popular Thermal spa Vadas in Sturovo lies on the border with Hungary. And while we're entirely on the south of Slovakia, we must not omit the district town of Komarno where you can bathe in the town thermal spa, as well as another summer recreational resort with hot springs near the village Patince, belonging to Komarno district.
